English Translation of Al-Quran
[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]
Ayat 57. And they say: "If we follow the guidance with you, we would be snatched away from our land." Have Allah not established for them a secure sanctuary (Makkah), to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 57. They say: "If we were to follow the guidance with thee Prophet SAWW (PBUH), we should be snatched away from our land." Attacked by Pagans of Makkah, but Allah in replied said to them “Have Allah not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds, – a provision from Ourselves?” but very sadly most of them understand not at that time and also today.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Ibn Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: when Messenger of Allah
Another narration is: Hazrat Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: When the Messenger of Allah
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 58. “And how many towns (population) have Allah destroyed, which were thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allah, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds” The Thamud were the people to whose guidance Allah sent Prophet Salih PBUH. They lived between Al-Madinah and Syria. In 10 A.H. when the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) went to the Syrian border for the Tabuk expedition, he also passed through this ruined territory. This Hadith is related to the address which he gave to his Companions on the occasion. Here is an instruction that when we happen to pass through the territory of a nation destroyed in the past as a result of Divine wrath, we are advised to quicken one’s pace. That is why we have been commanded to avoid the company of the corrupt and the wrongdoers, lest we meet their bad end, too. As the Qur’an says: "And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you.” (11:113) May Allah saves us from it!.

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "Seek among your weak ones, for you are given provision and help only because of the weak amongst you.”
[Abu Dawud Hadith # 2594].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 57. “to which are brought fruits of all kinds, a provision from Ourselves, but most of them know not” This Hadith mentions the reason for the acceptance of the invocations of the weak and poor. Since their hearts are free from the worldly vices and are gifted with greater sincerity and fear of Allah, their prayers are more acceptable to Him. This point has been mentioned more explicitly in Nasa’i which says: "Almighty Allah helps the Ummah because of the prayers, worship and devotion of its weak people". (Aun-ul-Mabud, Vol. No. 2, chapter Al-Jihad). The words which occur in most of the manuscripts of Riyadh-us-Saliheen are (Abghow fi ad-duafa’) and the translation quoted here follows these words. But in the manuscripts of Abu Dawud, the word (fi) does not figure in the text. In one manuscript, however, we find the words (Abghow fi ad-duafa’) which means "For me search Muslims who are weak so that I find reason to support you with their prayers".

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]
Ayat 58. And how many towns (population) have Allah destroyed, which were thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allah, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds and crimes)! And those are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them except a little. And verily! We have been the inheritors.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 58. And how many populations Allah destroyed, which exulted in their life (of ease and plenty)! Now those habitations of theirs, after them, are deserted, – All but a (miserable) few! And Allah is their heirs! A life of ease and plenty is nothing to boast of. Yet people or cities or civilizations grow insolently proud of such things. There were many such in the past, which are now mere names! Their very sites are deserted in most cases, or buried in the debris of ages. Indo-Pakistan subcontinent is full of such sites nearly everywhere. The sites of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro are the most ancient hitherto unearthed in Pakistan, and they are themselves in layers covering centuries of time! And how many more there may be, of which we do not know even names! Fatehpur-Sikri was a magnificent ruin within a single generation. And there are thousands of Qasbas once flourishing and now reduced to small villages or altogether deserted. But Allah is merciful and just. He does not destroy or degrade a people until they have had full opportunities of turning in repentance to Him and they have deliberately rejected His Law and continued in the practice of iniquity.

English Translation of Al-Quran
[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]
Ayat 48. But when the truth (i.e. Muhammad
SAWW PBUH with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: "Why is
he not given the like of what was given to Musa (Moses)? Did they not
disbelieve in that which was given to Musa PBUH (Moses) of old? They
say: "Two kinds of magic [the Taurat (Torah) and the Quran] each helping
the other!" And they say: "Verily! In both we are disbelievers."
Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 48. But (now), when the Truth has come to them from Ourselves, they say, "Why are not (Signs) sent to him, like those which were sent to Moses?" Do they not then reject (the Signs) which were formerly sent to Moses? They say: "Two kinds of sorcery, each assisting the other!" And they say: "For us, we reject all (such things)!" When a Revelation is sent to them, in the Qur’an, adapted to all their needs and the needs of the time they live in, they hark back to antiquity. The Prophet SAWW PBUH was in many respects like Moses PBUH, but the times in which he lived were different from the times of Moses, and his age did not suffer from the deceptions of sorcery, like that of Moses PBUH. The remedies which his age and future ages required (for his Message was universal) were different. His miracle of the Qur’an was different and most permanent than the Rod and the Radiant- White Hand of Moses PBUH. But supposing that Quraysh had been humored in their insincere demands, would they have believed? Did they believe in Moses PBUH? They were only put up by the Jews to make objections which they themselves did not believe in. Moses was called a sorcerer by the Egyptians, and the wonderful words of the Qur’an were called sorcery by Quraysh. As the Qur’an confirmed the Message of Moses PBUH, Quraysh objectors said that they were in collusion. Quraysh did not believe in Allah’s Revelation at all.

Lesson : Besides moderation in worship, this Hadith enjoins that such times should be fixed for worship when one is fresh so that one feels pleasure in performing it. But this principle is for optional and voluntary prayers only. Obligatory Salat are to be performed at the prescribed times only.

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]
Ayat 46. And you (O Muhammad
Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 46. Nor was thou at the side of (the Mountain of) Tur when Allah called (to Moses). Yet (art thou sent) as Mercy from thy Lord, to give warning to a people to whom no warner had come before thee: in order that they may receive admonition. This people was Quraysh. ‘Though thou didst not see how Moses was invested with the prophetic office at Mount Tur , thou hast had similar experience thyself, and We have sent thee to Quraysh to warn them of all their sins, and to repent and come into the Faith’.
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "My parable and that of yours is like a man who
kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and
grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they
overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waists ties
(to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands".
[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 46. “But (you
SAWW PBUH are sent) as a mercy from your Lord” This Hadith mentions the
extreme kindness which the Prophet (PBUH) had for the welfare of his
followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the
fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection
and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam.
People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same
way moths fall in the fire.
Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah
[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

[13].Surah Ar-Ra’d [The Thunder]
Ayat 31. And if there had been a Qur’an with which mountains could be moved (from their places), or the earth could be cloven asunder, or the dead could be made to speak (it would not have been other than this Qur’an). But the decision of all things is certainly with Allah. Have not then those who believe yet known that had Allah willed, He could have guided all mankind? And a disaster will not cease to strike those who disbelieve because of their (evil) deeds or it (i.e. the disaster) settle close to their homes, until the Promise of Allah comes to pass. Certainly, Allah does not fail in His Promise.

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]
Ayat 19. Then when Musa PBUH (Moses) decided to seize the man who was an enemy to both of them, the man said: "O Musa (Moses)! Is it your intention to kill me as you killed a man yesterday? Your aim is nothing but to become a tyrant in the land, and not to be one of those who do right."
Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 19. Then, when he decided to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of them, that man said: "O Moses! Is it thy intention to slay me as thou slewest a man yesterday? Thy intention is none other than to become a powerful violent man in the land, and not to be one who sets things right!" When Moses considered further that the Egyptian was unjust and that the Egyptian was an enemy to Israel generally (including both Moses and the man assaulted), he was going to intervene again, when he received a double warning, one from the Egyptian who was fighting, and the other from some man (Israelite or Egyptian) who was friendly to him, as explained below. We may suppose that after the first day’s fight, there had been a great deal of talk in the bazaars, both among Israelites and Egyptians. Probably the Israelites were elated at finding a champion-perhaps more elated than they should have been, and in a provocative mood, which deserved Moses’ rebuke. Probably the Egyptians had discussed who this new champion was, and had already appraised the Palace, to which Moses had not dared to return. The Egyptian saw the tactical advantage of his position. In effect he said: ‘We have found out all about you. You live in the Palace, and yet you come clandestinely and kill our Egyptians. Are you going to do the same with me? You are nothing but a bully! And you talk of setting things right! That is what you should do if you were true to your salt!’
Hadith
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah
[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2312]
Lesson : This Hadith also highlights the importance of fear of Allah because the more awareness a Muslim has of the Majesty and Magnificence of Allah, the greater shall be the terror in his heart for His punishment and hope of His Mercy. With this state of mind, he will perform greater acts of obedience and abstain more rigidly from sins.
2. The Hadith also mentions the heaven teeming with angels who are all the time prostrating before Allah in worship. When this is the condition of the angels, who do not slack for a moment in the obedience of Allah, how important it is for man to worship Him because he is all the time violating commands of Allah. It is, therefore, incumbent on man to obey Allah and always seek His Help and Refuge.
