Amoebiasis Information and Treatment

Amoebiasis Information and Treatment

Amoebiasis is primarily a type of infection because of the protozoan Entameoba histolytica, a type of ameoba. This is generally contracted by ingesting water or food contaminated by amoebic cysts. This microscopic parasite enters the body through contaminated food or water. The infection is common in areas with poor sanitation or living conditions. Amoebiasis can affect anyone, nonetheless, the disease mostly occurs in young to middle aged adults.

Symptoms are usually gastrointestinal including diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort and fever. Amebiasis , also named as amebic dysentery, is one of the most common parasitic diseases developing in humans, with an about 500 million new cases each year.

Amebiasis is mainly spread in food and water that has been defiled by human feces but is also spread by person-to-person contact. Diagnosis of amoebiasis is inveterated by finding cysts in the stools of the patient.

Contaminated hands may then publicize the parasites to food which can be eaten by other people and surfaces that may be touched by other people. The factors that foment invasion are unknown. The incubation period differs from a few days to several months or years; usually 2-4 weeks.

Amoebiasis most naturally affects young to middle-aged adults. Metronidazole , or a associated drug such a tinidazole , is used to rupture amebae which have invaded tissue. Oral antiparasitic medication is the benchmark treatment for amebiasis.
