How to Apply Blush - Applying Blush

Step by Step guide to Applying Blush

Decide the color of blush you want to apply on your cheeks. For this check the color of your cheeks by pinching your cheeks and wait for a second or you can match your lip color.
Put the blush into the brush, taping off any excess or put a dab of gel on your fingers. Apply the blusher with a brush, on the cheek, in the shape of a triangle, tapering towards the temples. Blend it outwards and upwards. No lines of demarcation should be visible. It should not have a harsh effect, but rather lend the face a warm, soft glow.
Apply blush brush on apple of your cheeks and gently brush up your cheekbone towards your hairline. Dot cream blush beginning at the apple and blend up the cheekbone towards the hairline.
For a natural look, blend it well down your cheeks.
There are many different kinds of blush (sometimes known as rouge, but you love the word blush because the way you apply the color is to give the impression that you are blushing, that you have a flush of color).
Blush comes in powder, liquid or cream. I prefer a water based cream blush for the first application in the morning, and the powder blush for re-touching during the day, because the cream blush goes on smoothly, is absorbed nicely into your skin, and will last for some time, and you can put powder blush over it anytime during the day.
If you start out your day with powder blush, you cannot retouch with the cream because it will cake and/or blotch on your face. Always start by using a little blusher and gradually build color to get the desired effect. Remember, it is always easier to add more to get the vibrant look. Also, if you apply powder blush on skin that has only foundation on it, it may splotch-the moisture in your skin will grabm it in different places and it will be so spotty, chances are you'll have to start allover again.
Powder blush is most effective over a foundation and cream blush on an already powdered face.
As far as color is concerned, I have found that the best idea is to have one blush you can wear almost anytime and with everything. This is a blush that compliments your skin tone and is in the color range of your skin.
When choosing the cream blush and the powder blush, make sure that the cream is a shade darker than the powder because it will be absorbed into your skin and may come down a shade or two, whereas the powder blush will sit on your skin and hold its color. How to Apply Blush - Tips
Tip 1: Its best to apply blush knowing the shape of the face.
  • For a long, narrow face: Apply the color lesser than the lower edge of the cheekbone and keep the angle horizontal for such a face to create the width of the face.
  • For round, square face: Apply color in the middle of the face. Don’t get close on the nose.
  • For skin look clearer: Apply blusher to the apple of your cheeks. Blend it back but don’t go further than the corner of the eye.
Tip 2: Dusky pink blush warms up any tired looking skin.
Tip 3: Wash brushes regularly with a make up remover or non- soap cleanser.
